Published on 16 February 2009 by Malcolm Davison

So what do you need to include in terms and conditions? This will vary from business to business but here are some important ones:

  • privacy, email address use and data protection - you can list the essential information you need to retain
  • copyright issues - redistribution or reproduction, protection of intellectual property
  • customer service and complaint procedure
  • refunds/returns/delivery problems and recognition of distance selling regulations
  • transaction security, use of ‘cookies’
  • money transaction problems
  • website errors - we all make mistakes, this explains how we manage them
  • website disclaimer - states the limitations of your liability for the use of your website
  • website accessibility - advisory, how you have made your website accessible to all users
